Michael Seeing the World
Data source: Twitter public API.
We randomly chose 14314 users who created their twitter accounts in early July 2009 and have been monitoring the numbers of their followings, followers and tweets on a daily basis.
From these users, we picked out those users the numbers of whose followers are >200 and <1000.
Below is the plot of follower number growth pattern.
希望时常保持更新状态是很多类似自己有些强迫症的人们共同的症状。习惯性地 update，吸取新的信息，越来越多地成了练军姿走正步而不是出自实用性或者是创造性的追求。车里的油表指示 gasoline 不能低于一半，Google Reader 里的 unread 不能高于 200；冰箱里的菜不能不是最新鲜，laptop 里工作和娱乐的软件不能不是最新功能最强大的版本；更严重者每天早上喝咖啡时要复习每一条昨夜大家 tweet 的嬉笑怒骂以及各种 wacky 网页上的奇闻八卦，如果不看完便感觉是自己远离了世界或是世界抛弃了自己，而且这种感觉在和同事的闲侃中，新闻地暗示中和广告的宣传中被强化着。于是世界不停的前进，人们被催促着地追啊追；信息流随着时间滚滚向前永不停息，人们却总有跑累的一天。日程表里面大块的时间已经被排满学习和工作，还要见缝插针似地，习惯性地进行 update，非实用性地，非创造性地，不断产生 anxious 地 update，终于容易 misjudge priority，mismanage time，感觉 overflow 了。
逐新的时候，又分明害怕记忆离我们而去。钱老先生归天，心里却隐隐浮现出早就覆灭的小时候因他而立的科学家梦想；在十一月星期日中午 Austin 七十几度的明媚阳光中驱车二十多迈去农家乐 BBQ，却阴霾的是朋友的离去成真；同样是欢笑的 Halloween，却是人来人往，去年今日身边的人远在天涯
